So, I saw the quote that Ron Barber’s press secretary is peddling to ya’ll suggesting that Barber is all things local – all things middle class.
Cue the clichés about “hobnobbing,” “East Coast billionaires,” “Wall Street,” yada yada yada.
Umm… OK, let’s have a reality check for a minute…
Barber’s taken oodles of money from DC PACS, Democrat leadership, lobbyists and big unions.
Oh, and by the way, if we’re going to talk about “hobnobbing” … I mean, puh-lease (*eye roll*)
Here’s a video of Barber headed to an event last month at one of Washington D.C. hippest, trendiest sushi restaurants with his friend, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Wasserman Schultz was the special guest, and PACs where required to pony up $2,500 to host.
But that’s not all.
Here’s Barber going to a D.C. fundraiser for himself on May 21st where guests were required to give him $5,000:
And here’s Barber going to a D.C. fundraiser for himself in November 2013. $1,000 to get in the door:
And here’s Barber going to a D.C. fundraiser for himself a few days before that (11/13/2013). $2,500 cover charge to see Ron:
Oh, and here’s Barber on October 23 going to another fundraiser for himself in D.C.:
More… here he is last June (6/26/2013) going to raise money from his D.C. friends:
This one is from March, 21, 2013. $2,500 PAC contribution please… Checks payable to “Congressman Ron Barber”:
Here he is last February (2/27/2013) getting out of his black car to go to a fundraiser for himself at Johnny’s Half Shell, where all the cool lobbyists hang out in D.C. these days:
So yeah, Ron Barber likes “hobnobbing” like nobody’s business.
None of this should be surprising.
As of the last public fundraising report, Barber had taken $14,000 from Pelosi this cycle, another $14,000 from Dem Whip Steny Hoyer, $10,000 from DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and the list goes on… $5,000 from DCCC Chairman Steve Israel, $9,000 from Chris Van Hollen, author of the Democrats’ budget that never balances… It all totaled up to a whopping $186,000 from national Dem PACs and campaigns. Can’t wait to see how high those totals are when his latest fundraising report goes public…
Guess we’ll have to stay tuned.
In the meantime, can someone pass the spicy tuna?
